homemade chocolate fudge, white chocolate peppermint fudge, and peanut brittle
(all homemade by SAM) bwahaha

ugh

Well, I was going to show ya'll some pictures that I took with my new digital camera. But, like the rest of my weekend has gone, it's not working! Blogger is making me mad. I've spent my entire Christmas weekend SICK. I spent most of Christmas day in the ER. I couldnt breathe, I couldnt do anything but lay on my couch. I felt like I had broken ribs, it hurt to cough, breathe, drink, eat, etc... So, when I went to the ER (and of course they were full to the brim with sick people) they told me I have bronchitis :( So, thats why I havent been at work, even though I was supposed to work Christmas. So, I missed a LOT of good photo ops. but I got a few cute ones in today and yesterday morning. Maybe later it will work...

13 Frequently Asked Christmas Questions (and their answers!)
according to our local newspaper ;o)
  1. What does Santa do when a house does not have a chimney or there is a fire burning in the fireplace?

Santa likes to keep a few things secret so he can always surprise the kids he is visiting--all he will say to this question is that he uses a little magic, but he *always* finds a way.

2. Does Rudolph always lead the sleigh?

Rudolph is most always the lead reindeer thanks to his wonderful bright nose.

3. How do the reindeer fly?

A long time ago Santa and his helpers discovered magical oats and corn-- when the reindeer eat the oats and corn they become able to fly and leap high into the air.

4. Why can't I ever see Santa or his elves?

Santa and his elves are magical and move very quickly. Sometimes, if you are very good, you *might* catch a glimpse of an elf!

5. How does Santa's sleigh make it around the world in one day?

Through a combination of lots of practice and hard work, judicious use of time zones, and a little magic, Santa and his reindeer always make it in time!

6. How does Santa know whether I've been naughty or nice?

Santa maintains his naughty and nice list (now computerized, by the way!) with the help of all the elves who keep track of each person-- you probably arent even aware they're around you, but elves have a special way of keeping an eye on you. Sometimes if you look quickly enough, you *might* catch one peering in a window or around a corne, but you would have to be very fast and very good!

7. How many reindeer are in the North Pole?

Besides the reindeer that pull the sleigh, there are lots of other reindeer that live in the North Pole! Too many for even Santa to count or keep track of these days!

8. What are the names of Santa's reindeer?

The reindeer that pull the sleigh are: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder (or Donner, he likes both since some of the small reindeer have trouble saying Donder), Blitzen, and of course, Rudolph. There are many other reindeer who live at the North Pole, but there is not room to list them all.

9. What do Santa and Mrs. Claus do during the spring and summer?

Santa and Mrs. Claus take a vacation after the holiday season. They like to see different parts of the world. Last summer they visited New Zealand, part of Europe, and the Florida Keys.

10. Why doesnt Santa always bring me what I ask for?

Thanks to the elves and your gift lists, Santa usually knows what presents you would like to recieve. However, sometimes Santa also knows that your parents, family, or guardians have other special things in mind. Also, Santa does not like to bring gifts that he knows your parents etc. would prefer you not to have--such as a horse, or a space shuttle, or other gifts that might not be appropriate.

11. Why does Santa Claus climb down the chimney?

Santa first began climbing down the chimney for Dutch children. Similarly, the switches he leaves for naughty children originated for Dutch children. His red suit trimmed with white fur originated from the bishop's mitre and cape worn by the Dutch saint.

12. How old is Santa and when is Santa's birthday?

Well, let's just say that Santa stopped counting at 550 and leave it at that! There have been plenty of Christmas nights where he's done his part, and plenty of more to come ;)

13. Does Santa really need snow to make his Christmas deliveries?

No, Santa does not need snow everywhere to make deliveries. As long as there is snow somewhere in the world (and there always is) the deliveries will go through! After all, Santa delivers to Florida, California, Hawaii, parts of Europe, Asia, Central America, South America, Africa, and other areas that have no snow! However, Santa does enjoy seeing all the beautiful Christmas lights that people put up, whether there is snow or not!

*Maybe your kids like to ask "hard to answer" questions?, maybe these will help :)*

Merry Christmas!!

Happy Birthday!

Thursday, December 21, 2006

Yes, I know it's a Halloween picture, but right now it's the only one I have to show ya'll the three most precious people in my life :)

Today was hubby's birthday! He turned 37! We had a great supper, a great cake (baked by your's truly ;0), and some great together time!

One week from today (the 28th) is the Girls' birthday :) They will be 4! We are going to have a big birthday party for them on the 30th. Today at school they had their Christmas party, but their teachers also let them celebrate for their birthday. They had pizza, cupcakes (also baked by yours truly!), juice, and they made miniature gingerbread houses, which they ate before they ever made it home with them LOL!!

I want to share their Santa Claus letters that got published in our local paper with you all. It wasnt just their letters that got published, it was all of the headstart and pre-k classes.

Shelby's:

Dear Santa,

I want markers and paper for Christmas. I have been a very good girl this year. I will leave you some Christmas cookies and coke.

Love,

Shelby

Shaleena's:

Dear Santa,

I want a baby doll and baby doll food and a basket and I would like a bicycle and some markers and paper. I want a toy for my cousin Chad and my sister. Sister wants a baby and baby stuff too. All the kitties and doggies in the world need things too. Merry Christmas to you too!

Love,

Shaleena

I got so tickled when I read those! I was so proud of Shaleena for thinking of her sister and her cousin :) And Shelby, all she has talked about since the Christmas Season has started is wanting markers and paper! LOL!!

Stay tuned for my Thursday 13 :)

*hugs*

What was your very first job with a paycheck?

I was a cashier at our local IGA Grocery Store. I started there 2 days after I turned 16 and stayed until I was almost 19!

Did you ever lose something really important to you?

Besides my sanity? LOL My Mama gave me a ring when I turned 21 and for the life of me I cant find it :( I think it must have got lost when we moved from Kentucky to Georgia.

Salad
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

My girls. :) They were born 3 days AFTER Christmas, but hands down, they were the best present EVER!!

Main Course
Tell about a favorite "hang out" place for you and your friends when you were in high school.

We used to hang out in the Fred's Dollar Store parking lot! We'd all park there and sit on our trunks. We'd wave at everyone and see how many cute guys we could make stop ;)

Dessert
Name something that always brings a smile to your face.

Hmm...I can name more than one thing. My kids. My hubby. My favorite blogs. A good book. Getting good stuff in the mail! Christmas! Can you tell that it's not really hard to make me smile? :) heehehe
*note* I'll be off from work for the next 3 nights. I hope you all have a lovely weekend! *hugs*

"moose"ical/funny stuff

Last night I went to my nephew's Christmas play at school. It was actually called a "moose"ical. It was about Marty the Moose, who wanted to help the reindeer pull Santa's sleigh. All the Christmas characters (i.e. reindeers, elves, christmas trees, snowpeople, sugarplum fairies, toy soldiers, rag dolls, etc...) made fun of Marty (who was played by a super cute little girl) and told him that he (yes, in the play, Marty was supposed to be a boy) was silly for wanting to fly with the reindeer. They said that he shouldnt try to be something that he wasnt. But, by the end of the play, Marty could fly, and all the other little characters had accepted him :)

Can you guess the moral of this story?

'tis the season for miracles!

Anything can happen if you believe in it enough.

Thats what the play was about. My nephew was in the chorus, and they did a wonderful job. Oh yes, Elvis was there as well. He sang " I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" and "Blue Christmas." I KNEW ELVIS WASN'T DEAD!!! Dang I'm good! LOL

Okay, more fun stuff follows...

I was over visiting Kathleen Marie and I saw these cute little things that she had done. So I decided to do them too...you can too, just go to http://www.blogthings.com (or click on the links that are attached to the uhh, blogthings. LOL). Enjoy!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

You Are Prancer

You are the perfect reindeer, with perfect hooves and perfect flying form.

Why You're Naughty: Because you're Santa's pet, and you won't let anyone show you up.

Why You're Nice: You have the softest fur and the sweetest carrot breath.
Which of Santa's Reindeer Are You?

Neener Neener, I'm the Perfect Reindeer ;)

You Are a Tree

You love every part of the holidays, down to the candy canes and stockings. And you're goofy enough to put a Christmas tree ornament on your tree!
What Christmas Ornament Are You?

For the record, I DO have a couple ornaments on my tree shaped like Christmas Tree's!

Your Christmas Stocking Will Be Filled With a Baby

And it wasn't exactly an immaculate conception.
Be prepared for major baby daddy drama from Santa!
What Will Be In Your Christmas Stocking?
Uhh...Santa's gonna be my baby daddy? ROFL!!

hmm...confused?

Tuesday, December 12, 2006

Okay, originally I was going to post a picture of the girls with Santa...that didnt pan out. My sister hasnt emailed me that picture, soooo, I decided to use this one. Shaleena did not see fit to participate in this pic, but Shelby (as always) was ready and willing.
I KNOW this looks like a boy. I KNOW her hair is short (so is Shaleena's). I am totally upset about this, but it couldnt be helped.
I was putting up groceries the other day, in the kitchen. The girls were being unusually quiet, so I went in to the livingroom to check on them and I found...prepare yourself, this is a bad mommy moment...the girls whacking away at each others hair :( Well, Shaleena was whacking on Shelbys. Apparently Shelby had already played "beautician" with Shaleena's head. So, I had no choice but to cut it super short. I was HORRIFIED.
I always said that I was going to have little girls with long long hair, I was never going to cut it, blah blah blah. And now I had to go and chop it ALL off :( But, on the bright side, they're still my precious cutie pies. On the other hand, I blame myself for leaving scissors within their reach. The scissors were with my christmas wrapping stuff.
So, yes I know they look like little boys. But, no, they arent. They are still mommy's little girls :)

Ack, in all the excitement, I forgot to mention that my Ornament Exchange Partner is Heather and I adore the Ornaments she sent me :)
Also, Mandy was my partner for the Christmas Grotto Goodie Gift Swap, and she sent me a lovely present too :)
I LOVE YOU GUYS!

In other news, guess what happened to me and my Best Friend, Lisa tonight? I wasnt even ON THE CLOCK yet and I was here a little early. Well, there is a Christmas party going on in our lobby (Bill Holt Ford) and they have a live band. Well, the main guy came over and he's like "we want to go later than 11 (p.m)" I was like, ummm, other guests might not appreciate that! He dropped a $100 in front of her and then walked over and dropped a $100 in front of me, and he's like, NOW can we stay later than 11? I was like, go for it buddy! hehe Thank Goodness, there arent too many other guests in the hotel at present, so no one has complained :) And I am now the proud owner of a brand spankin' new $100 bill!! WOOHOO!!

I entered pics of my Christmas tree (previous post) in Kailani's Christmas Tree Contest! So, I think everyone should vote for my tree to win! After all, I've never shopped from Amazon.com before, soooooo, dont you think I need to do it? hehe!!

my christmas tree

Well, boogers, they arent the best pictures in the world, but here is my Christmas tree :)

If you look reallllllllly hard, you can see the beautiful ornaments that my Ornament Exchange Partner sent me (i.e. the snowflake that is shining so brightly white :) )

This is Shelby in front of the tree, I couldnt get Shaleena to cooperate LOL! She was in brat mode ;) Enjoy the pics....have a good night :)

Cars

I dont know about ya'll, but I took my first trip to "Radiator Springs" and got to know Lightning McQueen, and all his buddies today! I borrowed the movie from my sister so the girls and I could watch it. WE LOVED IT!
The girls were not interested in the racing parts, but they were enthralled by the blossoming relationship between Lightning McQueen and Sally! LOL And Mater...oh Lord, how can you not laugh at anything that comes from Larry the Cable guy? hehe
I found myself about to cry when Mater said "I knew I made the right choice" and Lightning says "about what" and Mater says "choosing you to be my best friend." (I'm sure those arent the exact words, but you all get the idea, right?)
Well, I've recieved instructions from my girls to go and buy the movie RIGHT AWAY! I think I will, and I think I'll buy a copy for my nephew for Christmas :)
Guess what? My dear friend Kailani sent me a Christmas card, and I got it today! It's so cute! I'll have to post a picture of the cover when I post my Christmas tree picture for her contest.
Well, I hope you all have a wonderful night. *hugs*

A Christmas Story

Wednesday, December 06, 2006
There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job it was toprocess all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a lettercame addressed in a shaky handwriting to "God" with no actual address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read:

"Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension check. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner.Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me?
Sincerely, Edna

The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends.

Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read,

"Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it must have been those bastards at the Post Office. Sincerely yours,
Edna"
